Planners endorse rezoning application

The Gloucester County Planning Commission recommended approval of a rezoning application during a meeting June 2 in the colonial courthouse, planner Tripp Little said. The matter will now go to the Gloucester Board of Supervisors for final consideration.

The Nellie D. Greaves Revocable Living Trust seeks to rezone an approximately 5.1-acre parcel from C-1 (Conservation) to RC-1 (Rural Countryside). The entire 238-acre acre tract is presently zoned C-1.

The purpose of the application is to allow construction of one single-family dwelling for one of the property’s co-owners, the rezoning application said. The property is located on Old Rosewell Lane, at the end of Aberdeen Creek Road.

A report included in a recent Gloucester Planning Commission agenda packet indicated that the proposed residence is “in a location that is out of sight of the historic Rosewell ruins.” Also, the commission continued its review of a revised planned unit development (PUD) ordinance. Plann...
