Planners endorse housing proposals at Hayes and Gloucester Court House

The Gloucester County Planning Commission gave its approval to a pair of rezoning requests from applicants seeking to build housing developments at Hayes and Gloucester Court House during a meeting last Thursday night in the colonial courthouse.

Both matters were approved by unanimous votes, with three commissioners absent.

Contract purchaser Zandler Development Company, LLC, is seeking to rezone approximately 13.9 acres on the south side of Fiddler’s Green Road in the Court House area from single-family to multi-family. Chairman Louis Serio did not take part in that discussion or vote.

Charles Records, a partner in Zandler, said that his company proposes to build 51 townhomes and 59 condominiums on the site. He termed the project “a very walkable community,” indicating it will have lots of open space and amenities like a community room and a swimming pool.
