Planners consider changes to Villages of Gloucester project

A Gloucester County Planning Commission meeting that had been rescheduled due to inclement weather finally took place Thursday in the colonial courthouse.

The main item of business was a request to amend proffers for a plot of land between Hickory Fork Road and Route 615 zoned for a future housing development. After some discussion, the commissioners asked that the applicants refine their proposal and provide more specific information before bringing the issue to a public hearing.

Legal representatives for the Villages of Gloucester project were on hand and said they “sought amendment of the proffers to increase financial feasibility” of the development.

“The purpose of the amended proffers is to reduce the up-front costs of the development and allow flexibility in the timing and phasing of the project so that reasonable adjustments to changing market conditions over the expected 20 to 40 year build out of the project can be made,” the application stated.
