Planners approve residential rezoning

The Gloucester County Planning Commission approved a rezoning application and a code amendment following separate public hearings on Dec. 1 in the colonial courthouse.

David Forrest and Courtney Harris applied for a rezoning to amend the Gloucester County Zoning Map to reclassify approximately 2.57 acres from B-1 (Business, conditional) to SF-1, Single-Family detached residential. The rezoning served to remove the conditions imposed by the 2001 rezoning and to allow for continued residential use of the property, planning director Anne Ducey-Ortiz said.

A previous owner sought the rezoning so the house could be used as a guest cottage, but the house was never actually used for business purposes.

The new owners do not need the business zoning, Ducey-Ortiz said, and want to use the property as single family. Forrest said he was in agreement with the staff presentation given by planner Tripp Little.
