Planners approve residential rezoning request

The Gloucester County Planning Commission approved one rezoning matter during a meeting on Feb. 4 in the colonial courthouse.

No one from the public spoke during the hearing. The application was on behalf of property owners James B. and Suzanne E. Woodson in the Abingdon Magisterial District.

The Woodsons want to amend the Gloucester County zoning map to reclassify an approximately 0.53-acre parcel on Virginia Drive (off Belroi Road) from business to single family. The principal purpose of the application, a notice said, was to “resolve an error in the zoning map that has established a business zoning for a property used and assessed for residential purposes, allowing it to continue as a conforming use and facilitating a boundary line adjustment (vacation) between this property and an adjacent parcel.”
