Pirates Invade Yorktown this weekend

The Golden Age of Piracy returns to the York River waterfront this weekend as Pirates Invade Yorktown, sponsored by Riverwalk Landing Business Association and York County Economic and Tourism Development, is held Saturday and Sunday at Riverwalk Landing and Historic Main Street. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days. The weekend will also include live blacksmith demonstrations, sea shanties, smuggler’s auction, townwide treasure hunt, and cannon demonstrations. The Yorktown Freight Shed will hold the History Fair indoors and the Summer Camp Expo will be in the tent behind the building. Pirate School will teach children how to walk, talk and act like pirates. York Hall will host the pirate trial and live pirate puppet shows. Activities continue on Main Street with a pirate encampment and live performances throughout the day. Many Historic Yorktown restaurants will be open, and a number of food trucks will participate.
