Pink Door opens in Mathews C.H.

The Pink Door, a new women’s clothing consignment shop, opened yesterday at 9290 Buckley Hall Road in Mathews.
Operating under the umbrella of Roane’s Antiques at the Cottage, a downtown Mathews consignment shop, The Pink Door offers higher-end consignments in a boutique-style environment, said manager Brandi Jones, daughter-in-law of owner Janice Jones.

With an eclectic collection that includes a range of designer brands, the shop offers “a little bit of everything” at a reasonable price, said Brandi Jones. There are dresses, pants, shorts, skirts, blouses, and shoes in all shapes and styles, suited to the season. There are scarves and jewelry and even hats.

“You can put together an entire outfit,” said shop employee Nicola Rooney.

The shop is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, said Brandi Jones, humorously adding that there is seating available for “shopping chaperones.”

Consignments

Jones said the store is currently accepting summer wear and will accept up to 15 items per week per consignor. Each item of clothing must be in excellent condition and must be clean, wrinkle-free, and on a hanger, she said. Shoes have to look like new, with no obvious wear; bathing suits must be new, with the original liner and/or tag; and jewelry must be individually packaged. Designer handbags and wallets will be accepted as long as they’re in good condition, she said.

The store manager emphasized that the shop will not accept the following: undergarments, men’s or children’s clothing, wedding dresses, suits, formal wear, or items with labels cut out or missing.

Items are sold on a 50/50 split, with a price reduction of 20 percent after the first 30 days, said Jones. They will be kept for 60 days, after which the seller must pick them up or they will be donated. Consignors are paid on the 10th of the month for items that have sold.

Items are accepted for consignment Tuesday through Friday by appointment only. Call 804-505-1011 or visit the shop’s Facebook page to make an appointment.
