A 35-year-old Pinetta Road resident died in a single-vehicle accident in Gloucester on Saturday.
Mary Owens Crosby was driving a 2004 GMC Envoy west on Enos Road when she ran off the right side of the highway, struck trees and overturned. The accident occurred just west of Marlfield Road at about 1 p.m., according to Virginia State Police First Sergeant Greg Mathias.
Mathias said Crosby was the only occupant of the vehicle and died at the scene. He said Crosby appeared to be operating her vehicle above the 40 mile per hour speed limit at the time of the crash and was not wearing a seatbelt.
There were no signs of alcohol being a factor in the crash, which was investigated by trooper Jordon E. Gough.
This was the fourth traffic fatality in Gloucester in 2015. ...
