Pike to run for Gloucester School Board

Jim Pike, 54, of Gloucester, has announced his candidacy in the November election for the Ware District seat on the Gloucester County School Board.

If elected, Pike’s number one focus would be the safety and security of students and staff at Gloucester County Public Schools. He said that the implementation of a weapons detection system or metal detector is only one level of school security measures.

“Security is a big deal,” said Pike.

He also would like to help limit disruptions to learning that students and teachers face in the classroom. Another one of his goals is to address any other hurdles a student is facing when trying to learn.

“Everyone has a right to an education,” said Pike.

Pike also realizes that there are behavioral issues in the schools that need to be addressed. He wants to make sure there are fair and just policies and procedures when holding students accountable for their actions.
