Phillip Eugene Brown, 47, of Hayes, died April 1, 2017. Phillip passed away doing what he loved. Phillip lived in the Maryus area, loved being on the water fishing, having worked on the water since he was a teenager. He was hard-working, kind, a happy guy with a wonderful sense of humor, loved to laugh and joke. He will be forever remembered by family and friends.

He was preceded in death by parents, James Brown and Katherine Jenkins Brown; and a sister, Anna Marie Shackelford.

He is survived by his children, Ashley Brown and Phillip B. Brown; grandchildren, Xavier and Adrienna; sisters; Janet Brown and Patricia Smith; special nieces; Samantha West, Catherine Shackelford and Sarah West; special nephews, Kevin Jenkins and Jonathan West Jr.; significant other, Crystal West; best friends, Johnny Jefferson and Don West; and a host of other family members.

Funeral service conducted by the Rev. Dr. Rodney Autry will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 7, 2017, at Union Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Rosewell Memorial Garden. The family will receive friends Thursday, April 6, 2017, from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point.
