Philip J. “Phil” Howell, 75, of Williamsburg, formerly of Mathews and Virginia Beach, passed away on Sept. 1, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Elease H. Pendleton, and his son, Philip Wayne Howell.
Phil worked as a CPA and was a member of the AICPA. He was a partner at Goodman & Company for many years. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and was quite the pork BBQ food connoisseur.
A devoted family man, Phil was an especially loving husband. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 18 years, Clara C. Howell; his son and daughter-in-law, Gregory T. and Rose Marie Howell, their children, Griffin T. Howell and Amber Rose Reilly (Patrick) and granddaughter, Addison Rose; daughter and son-in-law, Kim C. and Harry Dutton, their children, Zach, Alex and Gabe; daughter and son-in-law, Joy C. and Tom Perry, their children, Weldon and Jackson; and his brother and sister-in-law, Harvel and Peggy Howell.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, Sept. 9, from 11-11:30 a.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Road, Williamsburg, where the service will begin at 11:30.
