The Gloucester School Board made several personnel appointments for the 2021-2022 school year during its June 23 work session.
The board appointed James Rieflin of Salem as its new director of information technology, with a start date to be determined. The board also appointed Kelley Gray of Newport News as the new principal at Achilles Elementary, effective July 6, and Alexis Foster of Mathews as an assistant principal at Gloucester High School, effective July 1.
Appointed to elementary school teaching positions were William Rousseau of Gloucester, Emma Saunders of Yorktown, and Caitlin Minton of Glen Allen, all effective Aug. 16.
Appointed to support services positions were Melissa Foster, Karen Gregory, Danielle Rusk, Christine Wisley and Peggy Register, all of Gloucester; and Alexandria Hickman, Tara Johnson and Elizabeth Polk, all of Hayes.
In administrative contract changes and re-assignments, Abingdon Elementary assistant principal Daryl Oakley was made the assistant principal at Page Middle School, GHS assistant principal Rita Garcia was named assistant principal at Petsworth Elementary and Petsworth Assistant Principal Shannon Auche was named an assistant principal at GHS, all effective on July 1.
The board accepted resignations from teachers Matthew Ebersole of Peasley, John Neblet of GHS, and Carly Zeh and Gail Hibbard of Abingdon Elementary. Resignations were also accepted from support services employees Sherry Gibbs, David Jefferson and Melinda Wilson.
In addition, the board approved retirement for support services employee Gladys Taylor, effective Aug. 1.
