Personnel appointments made by Mathews School Board

The Mathews County School Board made three personnel appointments at its Aug. 18 meeting.

Patricia Lewis was selected as the new nurse at Mathews High School. Amanda Rodriguez was named the new CTE instructor at MHS. Kenosi Molopo was appointed custodian, also at MHS. All appointments are for the current school year.

In other news, the school board approved an amended fee for students taking a dual enrollment psychology/sociology class through Rappahannock Community College.

In a memo to the superintendent, MHS principal Drew Greve explained that the usual instructor will not be teaching the course this year, which means there will not be someone that is contracted by RCC through MHS.

“These courses will now be taught by an online RCC professor, so students will have to pay the full RCC tuition if they’d like to take the course,” Greve wrote. The full tuition amount is $481.95; initially, students were to be charged $90 for the class.
