Personnel appointed at Gloucester schools

Lindsay Newell of Williamsburg, was appointed as a physical education teacher at Abingdon Elementary by the Gloucester County School Board during its Jan. 13 meeting. The appointment was effective Jan. 5. 

In other personnel actions, Patryce Cameron-Jenkins of Hayes, and Mary Hucles and Darlene Diamond of Gloucester, were appointed to support positions. 

Also, a resignation was accepted from Petsworth Elementary teacher Avencia Ross, effective at the end of the school year, and retirement was approved for Peasley Middle School counselor Nancy Keenan and Peasley teacher Linda Gregory, both effective July 1. 

In coaching appointments, John D. Mathews was appointed as the junior varsity baseball coach at Gloucester High School and Cecil Dougherty was appointed as the assistant varsity baseball coach at GHS.
