Pelican’s SnoBalls opens Gloucester Point shop

Pelican’s SnoBalls opened a store at Gloucester Point on May 10.

The new shop, which previously housed a coffee drive-through, is located at Tidemill Center. David and Diane LeBlanc own the business.

The LeBlancs are franchise operators of Pelican’s SnoBalls stands in Newport News and Gloucester. In addition, they have a mobile unit which they take to festivals and to private parties.

“This is a dessert place,” Diane LeBlanc said. But it’s also a family place, her husband said, as they offer not only cold treats but also free family games and activities including a giant checkerboard game and cornhole. They plan to offer free soccer clinics in a field near the stand.

David LeBlanc said he grew up in New Orleans, and his father often took the family out for a snoball. Snoballs are a very popular treat in New Orleans, he said, and that there are stands all over the city.
