Pedestrian killed in Guinea Road accident

A Hayes man died after he was struck by a vehicle on Guinea Road last Thursday. Thomas Edward Stallman, 53, of Hayes died at the scene of the accident that occurred just before 8 p.m., according to Sgt. Scott Edelman of the Area 33 State Police Office.

Edelman said Stallman was attempting to walk across Guinea Road at Sarah’s Cove Drive when he was struck by an eastbound 2008 Ford Edge. The driver of the Edge and a passenger were both properly restrained in the vehicle and were transported for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Alcohol was not involved in the accident, Edelman said, and it is unknown if speed was a factor. No charges have been filed and the Virginia State Police Crash Reconstruction Team is assisting Gloucester trooper Jeffrey Teagle in the investigation. Edelman said Guinea Road was closed as a result of the crash and was reopened to traffic at 11:10 p.m.

This was the second traffic fatality in Gloucester County in 2013.
