Peasley softball season ends with a win

The Peasley Middle School softball team ended its season with an 18-3 home win over Berkeley Middle School last Wednesday, April 22.

The Pride fell behind by two early runs, but all three eighth grade players helped the team rally in the victory. Emma Crist was the first to get on base in the bottom of the first, stealing two bases and scoring the team’s first run. Shayanne Sanford had a key hit later in the game before scoring a run. Christy Brewer had two hits for four at-bats and recorded two RBIs and two runs.

Pitcher Ki’mora Ward threw a complete game, striking out four and holding Berkeley to only three runs. At bat, Ward recorded four RBIs, scored three runs and stole multiple bases.

Payton Edwards walked three times, stole multiple bases and scored three runs. Bella Rice recorded four RBIs and scored two runs. Sara Linaweaver hit two RBIs and scored a run. Shelby Clements hit three RBIs and also scored once.

On defense, Linaweaver and Rice both made key outs to secure the win. Rice even recorded all three outs herself in the second inning as first baseman. Ryleigh Sparrer was catcher.
