Peasley 7th grader headed for track nationals

Tanner Baker, a seventh grader at Peasley Middle School, is headed for the USA Track and Field Indoor Youth National Championships slated for March 10-12 in Staten Island, New York. 

Baker qualified for the event by winning the 1,500-meter and 3,000-meter races in the USATF Indoor South Youth Championships held Feb. 11 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. 

Baker ran the 1,500 in 4.46 and the 3,000 in 9.54 in the south regional, which attracted competitors from 15 states. He will compete in both events at the national championships.
