Peace projects to be unveiled at RCC Saturday

A YOUnited Celebration—an interactional peace project exhibit and presentation by members of NewGen Peacebuilders—will be held from 1-4 p.m. Saturday at Rappahannock Community College’s Glenns campus.

NewGen Peacebuilders is a global program that emphasizes the role, value and impact of young people ages 14-24 in achieving a more peaceful world, a release stated. High school-aged youth ages 14-17 from Gloucester, Mathews and Middlesex counties and the town of West Point have worked together during January and February to “understand the drivers of conflict and learn the tools to be a catalyst toward building positive peace in their own communities,” according to the release.

The students then developed peace projects to implement in their communities in order to effect change in a variety of populations in this rural area.
