PCL to hold program on oyster reefs

The Piankantank Community League, Harcum, will host Heather Lockwood, a project manager of the recently completed Phase II Chesapeake Bay Oyster Recovery Program for the Piankantank River Reef Habitat, on March 21 from 7-8:30 p.m. Lockwood will share photos and experiences as a project manager with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers regarding the benefits and goals of oyster reefs, including harvest reefs, sea life living around the new reefs and insights into the next phase, which will be near Tangier Island. Phase II consisted of creating a reef on public Baylor Grounds near the mouth of the Piankatank River in Mathews and Middlesex counties.

PCL members will provide finger foods and beverages to share before the presentation at 6:30. This event is free and open to the public.
