Paying their respects

Hundreds of Gloucester residents lined Route 17 on Tuesday afternoon to pay their final respects to Virginia State Trooper Chad P. Dermyer of Gloucester, who was killed in Richmond on March 31 (see story here). Approximately 3,500 attended the funeral service at Liberty Baptist Church in Hampton, with hundreds more coming out to show their support on the way from the funeral to Dermyer’s burial at Rosewell Memorial Garden in Ordinary. Law enforcement officers from across Virginia attended the funeral, including about 250 officers on motorcycles, and state/highway patrol officers from California to Utah to Florida and Maine, according to Corinne N.
