Paving underway on Mathews roads

Weather permitting, paving along parts of Routes 14 and 198 in Mathews County, should continue all week, 7 a.m.-7 p.m. through Friday.

The Virginia Department of Transportation said crews are paving Route 14 from Tabernacle Road, Route 611, to just east of Route 729, Weston Hall Road.

Paving is also underway on Route 198 from just east of Route 1015, Cross Street at Mathews Court House, to Route 633, Fitchett’s Wharf Road at Moon.

Nearby in VDOT’s Fredericksburg District, paving is underway on Route 33, both eastbound and westbound, in Middlesex.

Also, one-lane traffic is in effect on the Norris Bridge between Middlesex and Lancaster counties. Daily bridge inspections are scheduled from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Friday through Oct. 28, VDOT said, with a pilot car leading traffic across the bridge. ...
