PAUL NORMAN ISAKSEN

Paul Norman Isaksen, 74, of Gloucester, died Dec. 14, 2015 at the Hampton Veterans Hospice Center. 

Paul was a graduate of Penn State University and Triangle Tech. He retired from the U.S. Marines after 20 years, receiving numerous medals to include, the Navy Achievement Medal; Presidential Unit Citation w/one star, Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal w/three stars, Vietnam Service Metal w/four stars, Rifle Expert Badge, Pistol Expert Badge, as well as many others. After the military he worked as an engineer for Newport News Shipbuilding.

Paul was a sports enthusiast with the Cleveland Browns being his favorite team, and coached baseball for his sons when they were young. He enjoyed camping, loved Christmas, liked to do woodworking, and was very meticulous about his yard. Above all these, his family was the most important. He loved to spend time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Paul was loved by his family and will be missed.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Isaksen.

He is survived by his daughter, Colleen Fowler; sons, John Isaksen (Diane), Donald Isaksen, Michael Isaksen (Angela) and Matthew Isaksen (Kari); 21 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A  Mass of Christian Liturgy will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 18, 2015, at St. Therese Catholic Church, Gloucester. The Rev. James Cowles will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow at Rosewell Memorial Garden Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, Dec. 17, 2015, from 7-8 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point.
