Paul Lee Oliver, age 77, of Hayes, Va., entered into the presence of Jesus Christ on Wednesday, September 16, 2026. Paul retired in 2016 from VIMS with 31 years of service. He loved God and spending time with his family. He lived and worked on the water all of his life. He loved to hunt and fish as well as vegetable gardening. Paul was a devoted and loving husband to his wife of 58 years, Ann Galloway Oliver. He is also survived by his son, Richard (Vali); his grandchildren, Matthew (Haley), Jonathan (Michelle), James (Emily), Bailey (Trent), Abbie (Matthew), and Valiree (Shane). He was a proud great-grandfather of 11. Paul was also survived by his sisters, Shirley Hudgins, Nancy Milby, and Janice (Jimmy) Darnell, and a host of nieces and nephews and a special family friend, Shelly. A service in his memory was held Sunday, September 20, 2026 at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Dr. Richard Croxton, at Beech Grove Baptist Church, Hayes. The inurnment followed in the church cemetery.
