PAUL D. HARE

Paul D. Hare, 89, of Hallieford, Va., passed away peacefully on June 18, 2014 to be in heaven with Gloria, his wife of 60 years. He was under the loving care of the nurses, aides and staff of the Riverside Convalescent Center-Mathews. 

He was born in Scranton, Pa., on April 23, 1925. He loved family and enjoyed singing, tennis, his loving church family of Francis de Sales, and was an accomplished woodworker and antiques collector.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II and aboard the USS Stoddard during the Korean Conflict. He was employed by Dunn & Bradstreet credit agency in Philadelphia, Pa., and Auerbach Publications.

Paul is survived by his sons, Paul A. Hare (Margaret) of Garden City, N.Y., Andrew D. Hare (Debra) of Hamilton, Va., and his daughter, Deborah H. Whiteway (Stephen) of Hallieford; six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Leo Schwarz and Jean Scharr, and multiple nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his good friend, Raymond Cary, and special helpers, Bridget Carter and Joan Carter.  

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Aug. 2, 2014, at the Church of Francis de Sales, Mathews, Va.

Arrangements are by Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews.
