Patsy’s Pub opens in Mathews

Patsy’s Pub & Grille, newly opened on Main Street in Mathews, is "more laid back" than its sister restaurant, Gloucester County’s Rosemary & Wine, owner Patricia Britto said.

Patsy Britto most recently was a manager of Rosemary & Wine, a restaurant owned by her husband, Art, and his mother, Mary Amos of Gloucester and Georgia. Now, she is proprietor of her own place, Patsy’s.

Art Britto, chef at Rosemary & Wine, will rotate in the kitchen between the two restaurants, as will sous chef Ben Tipton of Gloucester. Assistant managers at Patsy’s are Angie Hart of Mathews and Melody Woolard of Gloucester.

Patsy’s opened for business March 18 and the early business has been very good, Patsy said. Fried seafood has been very popular there, she said, especially a seafood combo.
