It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Patricia Ellen Thrash at her Hallieford home on Sunday, February 1, 2026. Pat struggled with many health issues following her major stroke in June 2024. Born on November 12, 1954 in Passaic, N.J., to the late Alfred T. Smith and Elizabeth M. Smith, Pat was raised in a loving home that valued faith, family, and hard work. What was instilled at a young age was apparent in her parenting and her ability to provide as needed through life. After high school in Belleville, N.J., she attended Paterson State University while working at Clara Mass Hospital in Belleville, and then Rahway Hospital in Rahway, N.J. Patricia married Gerald Thrash in 2002 and managed his Queens Creek Outfitters Hunting and Fishing store until they closed it in 2011 to retire and travel as much as possible while they could. She and Jerry visited many places, often traveling with friends. They always tried to travel the byways to enjoy the true nature of the countryside. Pat was preceded in death by her parents and stepson, Timothy Thrash. She is survived by her loving husband, Jerry; son, James and wife Amie; stepson, Steven and wife Michelle; brother, Thomas; sister-in-law Donna, and sister, Barbara Smith Spillane. Grandchildren include Tim’s girls: Taylor, Samantha, and Alexa; Steve and Michelle’s kids: Michael, Mia, Joseph, and Ian; Jim and Amie’s kids: Haley, Colin (now serving our country in the USCG), and Reid. Happiness is successful grandchildren! Pat was blessed 10 times, and all of them remember, “Nanny’s House—Nanny’s Rules!”
Barbara’s children include nephews, Steven, and special nephew, Thomas Spillane, who, as a child, called Jerry “Uncle Colonel Jerry Sir!!” Young Thomas is now serving our country in the USAF. Thomas and Donna’s children include nephew, Alexander, and niece, Rachel. Special thanks to our long-standing doctor, Sterling Ransone of Fishing Bay Family Practice. He was caring, compassionate, and available throughout Pat’s challenging journey. Special thanks to Pat’s aide, Dian, who became a special friend, and to all the girls at Heron Cove, especially Melissa. The extended family will gather for a Celebration of Life at a later date. Pat’s remains will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
Services under the direction of Hogg Funeral Home & Crematory.
