Pastor Mike Gray to retire from Newington Baptist Church

Pastor Mike Gray of Gloucester is officially retiring from Newington Baptist Church, Gloucester Main Street, on Dec. 31 of this year. He gave his last sermon this past Sunday.

“It’s been a delight to serve that congregation,” he said.

Gray started at Newington Baptist on Oct. 1, 1992, serving the church for more than 29 years. He has been a pastor for 44 years.

After earning his Master’s in Divinity from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, Gray was ordained under the leadership of Dr. Jess Moody at First Baptist Church of West Palm Beach, Florida.

Gray served as the pastor at Corinth Baptist in McQuady, Kentucky, and National Gardens Baptist in Falls Church, before moving to Gloucester with his wife and daughters.

He is most looking forward to spending more time with his wife and to finding new ways to do ministry in retirement.
