The Mathews Rotary Club will hold its fourth annual Party With a Purpose with Good Shot Judy entertaining the crowd from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Williams Wharf.
Food trucks On the Flip Side and Small Town Burger will be there, as well as Short Lane Ice Cream and beer and wine offerings. The beneficiary, or purpose, for this year’s event is the new Mathews Family YMCA preschool.
The Mathews Family YMCA will be opening a preschool using space at 105 Main Street (Westville Baptist Church) between Hardee’s and Food Lion.
This will be the YMCA’s fifth preschool in the Virginia peninsula area. The space had formerly housed a preschool licensed for up to 25 children. The new preschool will run year-round and anticipates opening on Aug. 25. It will be open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. for ages 2-4.
