Party with a Purpose

The final tally is in. The Mathews Rotary Club’s fourth annual Party with a Purpose, which was held on June 1 at Williams Wharf, raised $52,784 to benefit the new Mathews Family YMCA preschool. “This year’s event in particular had such a great community feel with a large participation,” said club president Mike Pittman. “I am so grateful to everyone who made this event such a success. The money raised, along with the match from the White Family Fund, will go towards startup costs such as new playground equipment and furniture. This ensures the incoming preschoolers will have a safe and welcoming learning environment,” added event chair Susan Murdoch. Shown at the check presentation are, from left, Sarah Rae, Buzz Lambert and Caitlyn Leavens from the YMCA, Pat Lipinski (an event sponsor) and Murdoch and Pittman from the Mathews Rotary Club.
