Parker to run for school board Petsworth seat

Anita Parker, 67, of Gloucester has announced her bid for the Petsworth District seat of the Gloucester County School Board. She has been serving in that seat since last October on an interim appointment to finish the remainder of Karen Espinoza’s term, which expires on Dec. 31, 2025. She is running unopposed.
Parker served on the school board from 2006 to 2021, as chair and vice chair for three terms each during that time. She is again currently serving as the school board’s vice chair.
“I’m the most proud of having security in our schools,” said Parker. She started advocating for increased security in the schools when she was first elected to the board in 2006.
Parker currently serves the school board on different boards and committees, including the school board scholarship committee and the Gloucester County Public Schools Educational Foundation. She is also the chair of the Local Emergency Planning Committee, and an alternate for the student disciplinary committee.
