Parents encouraged to ensure children are up to date on vaccines

As back-to-school preparations are underway, the Virginia Department of Health encourages families to talk to their health care provider to ensure their children are up to date on their routine immunizations, a release stated. According to VDH, Virginia immunization requirements for school entrance are not changed from previous years. Minimum requirements, VDH said, are as follows: “Documentary proof shall be provided of adequate age-appropriate immunization with the prescribed number of doses of vaccine indicated below for attendance at a public or private elementary, middle or secondary school, childcare center, nursery school, family day care home or developmental center.” The schedule of vaccines can be found at vdh.virginia.gov/immunization....
