Pagie Florene Dedmon Cosby, 104½, of Gloucester, passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at 7:30 p.m. at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital in Gloucester.
She was born on November 7, 1920 in Harcum, and was a lifelong resident of Gloucester in various communities; including the last 60 plus years in the Belroi/Bellamy community.
She was a lifelong member of Zion Hill Baptist Church where she has served as Church Mother since 2016.
She is survived by her daughters, Florene C. White in Suffolk, and Dr. Dorothy C. Cooke of Gloucester; four grandchildren, Nathaniel R. Cooke Jr. (June), James E. White Jr. (Violet), Raynard Salaam, Dwane Salaam (Jennifer); 10 great-grands; four great-great-grands; two great-nieces, Dr. Darlene Slade (Jeffrey) of Richmond, and Juanita Palmer of Williamsburg.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 12 at 11 a.m. at Zion Hill Baptist Church, 10256 Indian Road, Gloucester. Viewing will be 10-11 a.m. Interment will be at Gleaning Baptist Church at 7749 Dutton Road, immediately following the service.
