Page now 30-35 percent complete

The new Page Middle School being constructed on T.C. Walker Road is 30 to 35 percent complete, according to Scott Shorland, construction manager for Gloucester Public Schools. The current substantial completion date for the project is July 1, 2015.

The $26 million school will house about 600 sixth, seventh and eighth graders when it opens next fall. It will replace the former Page Middle School on Route 17 that was devastated by a tornado in April 2011 and was subsequently demolished.

Most of the metal roof decking is in place on the new building and much of the concrete flooring on the first level has been poured. Some second-floor concrete has also been poured and exterior brickwork is going up. Components of the sprinkler system and some duct work are also going in.
