Paddle for Peace to be held Monday in Mathews

A Paddle for Peace and Community Picnic will be held from 5-8:30 p.m. Monday at Williams Wharf on the East River in Mathews. A sunset paddle will begin at 6 p.m.

Held in observance of the International Day of Peace/Ceasefire Day, the event will include the paddling time, an exposition of children’s art, any additional art that participants might want to share, and impromptu musical performances.

“If you play it, bring it,” said a press release.

Those attending should also bring a picnic dinner, non-alcoholic beverages, “and something to share if you can.”

The entire community is invited, said the press release, adding that the event will consist of “peaceful people doing peaceful things in a peaceful place for International Day of Peace/Ceasefire Day.”

Volunteers and suggestions are welcome, said the release.
