Outpouring of pet food, cash comes from Dog Days’ promotion

For the Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society, the Dogs Days of Summer brought not only warm temperatures but generous donations from local businesses, as well.

From Aug. 17-31, participating businesses offered special Dog Days of Summer promotions for customers who donated a GMHS wish list item or made a monetary donation.

Coordinated by Brent and Becky’s “facilitator of fun” Denise Hutchins, the promotion collected more than 270 pounds of pet food, more than $230 in donations and a variety of pet treats and toys, blankets and cleaning and office supplies to benefit the shelter.
