OTIS RAMEY HOOPER

Otis Ramey Hooper, 73, of Gloucester, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2015, in Richmond, Va.

He was the son of the late Thomas Louis and Myrtle Ramey Hooper. He was a native of Leavenworth, Kansas.

He was retired from the U.S. Department of Commerce after 32 years of service where he was a supervisor inspector. He was also retired from the U.S. Army after serving 22 years. He was a member of Woodcrest Baptist Church in Ashland, Mo.; a member and fellow of Gloucester Moose Lodge #886, Gloucester VFW, Vietnam Veterans Association, and a 32nd degree Mason with Achilles Masonic Lodge. He was an avid fisherman, especially in Alaska.

He was preceded in death by his son, Odie Bailey.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Hooper; his children, Louie Hooper and his wife Gina, Kim Rodgers, Michelle Kercher and her fiancé Gene Bunting, Monica Castillo and her husband Michael, Kristina Stape, and Takeshi Matsuo; sister, Roxie Mills and her husband Francis; brothers, Thomas Hooper and his wife Linda, and Ronald Hooper and his wife Stephanie; 13 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2015, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Andrews Funeral Home & Crematory.
