A memorial service for Oscar Bernhardt “Bernie” Kraatz, 80, of Suffolk, was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, in Cradock Baptist Church, Portsmouth. He died Aug. 19, 2016.

He was a 1955 graduate of Cradock High School, and retired as a Data Processor in the Control Office of Norfolk Naval Ship Yard. He was a member of the Coast Guard Reserve and Cradock Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Phyllis Respess Kraatz; two children; three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
