Orth, Hutson to lead board in 2021

Dr. Robert “JJ” Orth was elected chairman of the Gloucester County Board of Supervisors for the 2021 calendar year during the Jan. 5 organizational meeting of the board, with Christopher Hutson to serve as vice chair. Both Orth and Hutson were the only nominees and both received unanimous support.

Before handing the reins over to the new chair, outgoing chairman Phillip Bazzani expressed his gratitude to his colleagues for their support during the challenging year that 2020 was. He said that he was “privileged and honored” to serve as the chair and looked forward to working with the next one.

Flat Iron CUP approved

The board held a public hearing that was brought to its attention by the Planning Commission. The application for a conditional use permit came from Ray Friend of Flat Iron Crossroads. The permit will allow Flat Iron Crossroads to hold musical events outside.
