Organist opens Arts at Abingdon concert series

Concert organist Katelyn Emerson will perform in the first Arts at Abingdon concert of the 2021-2022 season, to be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 13, at Abingdon Episcopal Church on Route 17 in White Marsh.

Admission is free but a free-will offering will be accepted. Masks are required.

Hailed in Iceland as “one of the world’s most promising organists,” Emerson is internationally renowned for performances throughout North America, Europe, and Asia, said a press release. She showcases a repertoire spanning the 14th-21st centuries with “impressive technical facility and musicianship,” according to an article in Cleveland Classical. Emerson received top awards in the American Guild of Organists’ National Young Artists Organ Competition, Musashino International Organ Competition in Japan, International Organ Competition “Pierre de Manchicourt” in France, and Mikael Tariverdiev International Organ Competition in Russia.
