Joe Sinnott, a licensed optician, joined the staff of Green’s Optical at White Marsh in late February.

Sinnott, who has 41 years’ experience as an optician, works there part-time. Green’s Optical is located at White Marsh Village.

Sinnott fits eyeglasses and their frames for children and adults. Also, he is licensed and certified to fit and dispense contact lenses.

Green’s Optical is owned by Ed Green, who has 30 years’ experience as an optician, including the past eight as owner of Green’s Optical.

Green and Sinnott fill prescriptions from optometrists who conduct eye exams and prescribe corrective lenses. Sinnott likened his job to that of a pharmacist as he fills prescriptions.

Besides prescription eyeglasses and sunglasses, Sinnott said, they handle sport and safety glasses. Most retail shops don’t provide glass repairs to frames and lenses, Sinnott said, but Green’s Optical does.
