The Chesapeake Bay Croquet Club in Hartfield will hold an open house for new players and visitors at 1 p.m. Sunday. The club is located on Route 3 (Twiggs Ferry Road) in Hartfield.
Sunday’s event is open to everyone at no charge. Visitors will get professional instruction and a chance to try out the club and the game. The club has all of the equipment needed.
The club features six acres of flat carpet-like grass. Founded in 2016, the club’s 24 new laser-leveled courts make it the largest croquet facility in the world, a release stated.
Modern croquet is like a mixture of golf, chess and billiards. The lawns are dead flat and smooth like a putting green.
The United States Croquet Association governs the sport and sets handicaps for players.
The Chesapeake Bay Croquet Club has players of all skill levels and always welcomes visitors and new players. For more information, contact Chesapeake Bay Croquet Club pro Macey White at MaceyWhite@gmail.com.
