Opal Mae Boggs Countiss, age 81, of Gloucester, was called home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, October 25, 2025. Opal was born on March 29, 1944, in Fleming, Ky., to Kyto Delmar and Margaret Boggs Sr. of Pound, Va. Opal was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 57 years, Quillie J. Countiss, and by two brothers and one sister. Opal became a nursing assistant at an early age. Her calling was to care for those who could not care for themselves. She served her community for over 50 years. Throughout Opal’s life, her greatest joys came from being a wife, mother, homemaker, sister, and friend. To know her was to love her. Opal was a faithful and devoted member of the Gloucester Church of Christ. She loved and cared for animals all her life. Opal is survived by two wonderful sons, K. Scott Countiss (Megan) of New Kent, Va. and Robert E. Countiss (Mary) of James Store, Va.; grandchildren, Chelsea Nicole Countiss, Anna Elizabeth Countiss Buhl (Ben), Jake Quillie Countiss (Camile), Abigail Elizabeth Countiss, and Rebecca Irene Countiss; great-grandchildren, Ava Elizabeth Acatanze, Claire Elizabeth Buhl, Walker Mae Countiss, and Wesley Grace Countiss; siblings, Jerry Boggs, Lilly Moore, Viola Mullins, Elizabeth Lily and Nova Elkins, and many nieces and nephews.
