Only one application received for Gloucester School Board vacancy

Carla B. Hook of Hayes is the sole applicant for the York magisterial district seat on the Gloucester County School Board, according to school board clerk Diane Gamache. The deadline to make application to the board for the seat was Monday.

A county native and the valedictorian of her Gloucester High School class, Hook graduated from the University of Virginia with honors and received a bachelor of arts degree in government and foreign affairs in 1992. She received her law degree in 1995 from the College of William and Mary, where she served on the W&M Law Review.

After five years in private practice in Northern Virginia, Hook returned to Gloucester and worked for five years in the York County Attorney’s Office, where her duties included representing the York School Board. Hook left fulltime practice in 2005 and now has a private practice devoted to child welfare law. She and her husband, Keenon Hook, reside in Bena with their two children.
