Only 6 new cases in Gloucester; none in Mathews

New COVID-19 case rates continued to decline during the past week, locally, statewide, and nationally.

Three Rivers Health District case rates are much lower, said a press release from Medical Director Dr. Richard Williams, with fewer than 10 cases reported per day districtwide.

Virginia cases averaged around 942 cases per day over a seven-day average, while the national case rate was around 29,600 cases per day over a seven-day average.

Mathews County was particularly low, with no new cases, hospitalizations, or deaths recorded in the county during the past week, leaving the totals at 1,425, 32 and 28, respectively.

Just six new cases were recorded for Gloucester over the week, along with two deaths and no new hospitalizations. This brings Gloucester’s cumulative totals to 7,279 cases, 100 hospitalizations, and 100 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
