Caroline Townsend Olney joined Atlantic Bay Mortgage Group’s Gloucester office in early January.
A mortgage banker, Olney joins senior mortgage broker Mike Poole to staff the local operation, which is located in the Morgan Building on Main Street.
Olney said she works with clients to arrange all types of residential mortgages. She uses an assortment of funding sources, including VA, VHDA and conventional.
“I love working with people,” Olney said. She said it is very rewarding to help a client who cannot qualify for a mortgage now but, after credit counseling or adding extra income, might be able to qualify for a mortgage in the future.
Olney is no stranger to the finance industry. She worked for more than 12 years at Colonial Farm Credit as a loan originator and mortgage banker. Then, she was a mortgage manager for Colonial Farm Credit in Mechanicsville for about 10 years.
Originally from King William County, Olney grew up on a dairy farm. She is a graduate of Mary Washington College (now University of Mary Washington).
Her husband John Olney Jr. works at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science, Gloucester Point. They reside in Gloucester.
In her spare time, Olney enjoys running, fishing and hunting.
Headquartered in Virginia Beach, Atlantic Bay Mortgage has offices in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Delaware and Maryland. The company was founded in 1996.
