Olive Branch UMW finds sweet success

To make up for a lot of activities they were forced to cancel because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the United Methodist Women of Olive Branch United Methodist Church found a sure moneymaker: Desserts for one year.

The UMW members of this upper Gloucester church sold tickets for $5; Karen Rundlett of Middlesex County is the lucky winner of one dessert a month, starting this month.

Donna Fary, committee chair and UMW president, said this project was undertaken because, “to continue our community and mission work and other charitable contributions, we had to come up with an idea.” This group of ladies, with about 12 active members, focuses on helping organizations in the community, and in 2020 they did no fundraising due to the virus pandemic.

This is their usual list of groups and people helped: The Gloucester Mathews Care Clinic, Red Cross, Gloucester Fire and Rescue, help feed those in need around the holidays, adopt a family in need at Christmas making sure they have on...
