Arts on Main’s Artist in Residence Thomas Bradshaw will share oil painting techniques during a free presentation from 5 to 6:15 p.m. today at the gallery on Main Street in Gloucester. The public is invited.

Bradshaw’s loose style allows him to imply detail without overstating it, said a press release. His brushwork and use of a palette knife creates a textural impression that draws the viewer in for a closer look.

In addition, said the release, with a limited color palette, “Bradshaw brings to life the way in which a shimmering light will illuminate the scene as a single moment in time.”
