Offices, schools close for Thanksgiving

All courts and county offices in Gloucester and Mathews will close at noon next Wednesday, Nov. 25, and remain closed the rest of the week in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Additionally, the offices of the Mathews Commissioner of the Revenue and the Treasurer will close their DMV services at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Gloucester County schools will be closed all week next week, but the Gloucester School Board office will be open Monday, Tuesday, and a half day Wednesday. Mathews schools will close at 1 p.m. next Wednesday and remain closed for the rest of the week.

Gloucester libraries will close at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 25, and reopen Saturday, Nov. 28, for normal hours. Mathews Memorial Library will close at noon Wednesday and reopen Sunday, Nov. 29, for its annual Deck the Halls celebration.

Post offices, ABC stores, and waste facilities will be closed Thursday only for Thanksgiving, although the Mathews Transfer Station will observe its regular Wednesday closure, as well...
