All courts and county offices in Gloucester and Mathews will be closed for the Christmas holiday on Thursday and Friday, Dec. 23 and 24. Virginia DMV offices will be closed Thursday through Saturday, Dec. 23-25.

Libraries in Gloucester will be closed Dec. 23-25, including the book drop. No fines will accrue on those days. Mathews Memorial Library will be closed Thursday through Sunday, Dec. 23-26.

Local post offices have early closing times on Friday, Dec. 24; residents should check with their offices for specific times. All post offices will be closed on Saturday, Dec. 25 for the holiday.

ABC stores will close at 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 24 and remain closed on Christmas Day.

Waste facilities in Gloucester and Mathews will be closed on Christmas Day only.

Schools in both counties are closed and will remain closed until Monday, Jan. 3.
